I always prefer to do my scanning in Photoshop, because I’m a designer and Photoshop offers a fuller range of controls than most scanner software. Since not everyone can work in Photoshop, I will also show you how to easily scan in Windows 10 in another way. So let’s learn how to do scanning in Photoshop or otherwise.

How to Scan a Document in Windows 10 For all its controversies, Windows 10 is mostly amazing. It combines much useful software and small programs for a better user experience For example, Windows Scan is a Windows 10 scanner that helps users scan documents or images and save them wherever they want.
Many people want to scan documents in Windows 10, but they don’t know how to scan them. Here, I want to show you how to easily scan a document in Windows 10.
How do you scan a document and save it to your computer?
Click the Start button in the lower-left corner of your computer screen and scroll down to find the Scan app. Or search by typing scan. And click on it. You can see as below screenshot.

Check if your scanner is properly plugged in via a USB connection cable or Wi-Fi connection and whether the scanner is turned on or not. If set up correctly, the scanner name and file type will be displayed. You can see as below screenshot.

Now select the file format in which you want to save your document.
Place the document you want to scan in the correct area of your scanner.
Check if the scan looks correct by clicking the Preview button.
Or click the Scan button to scan. You can see as below screenshot.

When you’re ready, click the Scan button in the Windows Scan app.
Wait for the scan to complete itself.
Now you will see your file, rename it as you wish and save it in the computer folder. As below screenshot.

How to Scan to Computer with Windows Fax and Scan
Windows Scan is a visual upgrade to the older Windows Fax and Scan tool, which is still used on some Windows 10 computers. If you do not have Windows Fax on your computer, please visit the Microsoft Store and download it. Now scan as shown in the above screenshot.
First Step: Click Start -> Expand Windows Accessories folder -> Select Windows Fax and Scan.
2nd Step: Click on the New Scan button at the top-left.
Make sure the correct scanner is selected. If not, click Change.
Step 3: Select a profile from Photos, Documents, and Recently Used Settings. (You can click Add Profile to create a custom one.)
4th Step: Select a source or paper size if you want. (You can change the color format, file type, resolution, brightness, and contrast as needed.)
5th Step: Click Preview and then Scan to start scanning.
Wait for the scanning to complete.
Can you scan PDFs in Windows 10?
Both Windows Scan and Windows Fax and Scan do not support PDF as a target file type. Are there other ways to scan documents to PDF? Of course, you can also use third-party tools like PDF Document Scanner and Adobe Acrobat to complete Windows Scan to PDF.
How to Scan with Photoshop
Now let’s see how to scan with Photoshop
Photoshop obviously interprets RGB data extremely well. After launching the scanner, launch Photoshop and scroll down to IMPORT from the FILE menu, where you’ll see the TWAIN option or your scanner’s actual name. This is basically the scanning option in Photoshop.
In my opinion, Photoshop is the most professional and easiest way to scan photos or documents. Although it is a bit difficult for those who do not have a good understanding of Photoshop. Now we will see step by step how to scan a photo or document with Photoshop. If you read the following articles with screenshots carefully, I hope you will learn how to scan photos or documents with Photoshop today.
Step 1: Open Photoshop from your desktop or laptop. (Here I am using Adobe Photoshop CC 14.2.1 version. You can use any Photoshop, all Photoshop options are the same.) The screenshot is attached below.

Step 2: In this step, click on the File option shown in the screenshot, scroll down and move the mouse cursor to the Import option, you will see all the scan drivers or plugins installed on the device in a list like the screenshot below.

Step 3: In this step, you need to click on your scanner name. (I use two scanners in my device, one is Cannon Lide 110, and a Toshiba e-STUDIO2523A photocopier. Here I will scan with Cannon Lide 110 scanner.)
Step 4: At this stage, you will see a screenshot like below. (may vary by the scanner) Now you need to place your photo or document on top of the scanner. If not placed correctly, parts of your photo or document may be missing. Now click on the Preview button and wait for scanning.

Step 5: Now you have to select from your photo or document as required and click on the scan button.

Now save it to your desired folder. Hopefully, scanning through Photoshop or Computer with Windows Fax and Scan will not be a problem.
