How old is Goku in Dragon Ball GT?
Although not technically Canon, Dragon Ball was released before the GT Super and exists in its own timeline, five years after the conclusion of Dragon Ball Z. At the beginning of the Goku series, chronologically the body of his 42-year-old self, 49 years old. But due to the accidental use of dragon ball by Emperor Pilaf, he quickly returned to his 11-year-old body.
For the rest of the series, Goku remains in this body, closing the show as a 51-year-old man of 13 years. Fortunately, after merging with the Eternal Dragon, he regains his original form at the conclusion of the series. However, this will happen in the next century, so when Goku can return to his physical state, he is technically a 151-year-old man.
The Dragon Ball universe includes more than 30 years of stories for Canon Goku – and in each story, his age has changed quite a bit. During all this time, the franchise has taken Cyan Heroes and Z-Warriors from Cyan Homeworld to King Kai’s planet in different places. The original Dragon Ball focuses on the adventures of a young Goku, where the Dragon Ball is centered at a later point in Goku’s life instead of Z when the character begins a family of his own with Chi-Chi and Gohan.

Thus, the Cyan protagonist has evolved from a young boy to a full-grown man at the beginning of the original manga/anime series – and is back on the Canon Dragon Ball GT. Now, we’re taking a closer look at what Goku was like, physically and otherwise, throughout the iconic anime franchise throughout each series.

Goku In Dragon Ball Z
At the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, five years have passed since the end of Dragon Ball, which effectively makes Goku 23, now with a five-year-old boy named Gohan. After learning about his true Cyan tradition from his long-lost evil brother Reditz, Goku dedicates his life to killing Piccolo once and for all. While Raditz’s superiors Vejita and Jade Fighters train on Earth for the arrival of Nappa, Goku trains for the afterlife. After his resurrection through the Dragon Ball. Goku is physically 23 years old but chronologically 24 years old when he helps bring Vegeta out of Earth.
After defeating Frizza, Goku spends three years training with the Z Fighters for the arrival of Android, which was predicted by the trunks of alternative futures. At this point, Goku is 26 years old physically and 27 years old chronologically. This makes Goku 42 physically and 49 chronologically. This proved to be short-lived, however, as Emperor Pilaf mistakenly used the Black Star Dragon Ball to bring Goku back to the age he first met – effectively making Goku an eleven-year-old child, once again capturing the intelligence of a 49-year-old man.
Goku In Dragon Ball Super
The completion of Dragon Ball Super took place over a period of 10 years between the defeat of Mazin Bu at the end of Dragon Ball Z and its subsequent conclusion. Starting almost four years into the Super Time Jump, Goku turned 31 physically but 38 years old psychologically. After the series begins, Goku and Vejita train under
Bears and Whiskers for a year before the events that carry them through the end of the series begin.
Anime series and sequel animated film Dragon Ball Super: Towards the end of Broly, Goku is 32 years old physically and 39 years old psychologically. Although there is a manga sequel to the series after the Broly incident and the end of the anime, the exact explanation of how many years have passed is uncertain. However, since Z’s conclusion hasn’t happened yet, Goku hasn’t reached 40 yet – physically, anyway.

Emperor Pilaf Saga
The first arc in the original Dragon Ball anime is Emperor Pilaf Saga, the story that takes the young Sayan on a journey for the first time with Bulma, Yamcha, Krillin, and Master Roshi. When his journey begins, Goku is said to be 14 years old, despite his youthful appearance. The Dragon Ball subsequently reconnects Goku at the age of 11, explaining that he had trouble counting when asked his age at the beginning of the Pilaf story.

At the age of 12, Goku competed in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament and fought Master Roshi in the final round. The biggest time skip in Dragon Ball Canon is after Super Cyan 2 wins over Gohan’s cell. Seven years later, Goku chooses to be dead all this time so that he can continue his training in the otherworld. After saving the world from Kid Boo with the Goku Spirit Bomb, the character is able to return to his family on Earth among the living again. It is important to note here that since Goku has not been technically alive at all in the last seven years, he has not physically aged a single day. Goku is 37 years old, but when he looked at the deaths of both Goku in the Dragon Ball universe, he did not live for those eight years, so his physical age was close to 30.
